How to Use the Brevard County Inmate Search
The Brevard County jail roster lives on the BCSO public site and runs as a self-serve search form. Most users find a Brevard County inmate by typing in a last name, but the portal also takes a booking number, a subject number, or a date range. Each result row links to a booking detail page with charges, bond, and booking history.
- Open the BCSO inmate search at inmatesearch.brevardsheriff.org.
- Enter a last name. First name is optional. Letters only.
- For a span, set a From Date and a To Date. For a recent booking, leave the dates blank.
- If you have a booking number, paste it in. Format is YYYY-NNNNNNNN, 13 characters total.
- Click Search. The result table shows Booking #, Name, DOB, Booking Date, and Released status.
- Click the booking number to open the full profile.
If a name returns no hits but a person was just arrested, wait a few hours and try again. The roster drops older bookings once they age out. For those, file a public records request with the Inmate Records Unit.

The subject appears on the BCSO jail roster within hours. Florida requires first appearance within 24 hours. A judge sets bond, signs ROR, or orders the person held.

Public Records Requests for Brevard Jail Records
The BCSO public records gateway handles requests that go beyond what the public jail roster shows. Use it for case reports, audio and video files, longer booking histories, and any record the active roster does not surface. Fees and service charges apply. The agency does not accept outside CDs, DVDs, or memory sticks for duplication.
BCSO Inmate Search Disclaimer. BCSO provides the inmate database as a courtesy and notes that it should not replace a formal F.S. 119 public records request. The data is informational and subject to change. It may contain errors. Inmate information changes quickly. An arrest does not mean a conviction. All subjects are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court. Information from the roster should not be used for any legal action, hiring, housing, credit, or insurance decision. For an official record, file a public records request through brevardsheriff.com/resources/public-records-requests on the JustFOIA portal.
Common BCSO fees: $2.00 Records Check per last-name inquiry, $0.15 per single-sided copy on case reports of 10 pages or more, $0.20 per double-sided copy, $1.00 per CD or DVD, plus a service charge for requests over 15 minutes of labor. Payment options include online, money order, cashier check, cash, business check, or credit card with a 2.95% fee. Personal checks are not accepted. For broader county records guidance, see public records.
State Prison vs County Jail Records
A Brevard County jail booking is not the same record as a state prison sentence. The BCSO jail roster covers people in county custody. Once a person is sentenced to more than a year, they move into the Florida Department of Corrections system and drop off the BCSO roster.
The FDC Offender Search includes an Inmate Release Information Search. Release data updates nightly. Use it when a Brevard case landed a person in state prison. For release lookups across BCSO, FDC, BOP, VINELink, and FDLE, see released inmates.
The State Attorney's Office for the 18th Judicial Circuit prosecutes felonies that begin with a BCSO arrest. Background lives at sa18.org/about. Convictions can move a Brevard jail subject into FDC.

The screenshot above pulls the State Attorney bio page, one of the main bridges between a county booking and a state prison record.
Federal Inmates and BOP
Federal cases land in a different system. The Federal Bureau of Prisons inmate locator at bop.gov/inmateloc/ covers federal inmates from 1982 to present and shows Release Date and Location. BOP warns that the listed release date may not be current due to sentence reviews and that "Released" or "Not in BOP Custody" may still mean custody, parole, or supervised release elsewhere.
The form takes first and last name plus optional middle initial, age, race, and sex, or accepts a BOP register, DCDC, FBI, or INS number. The locator does not cover county jail bookings. For a Brevard County jail roster lookup, the BCSO portal is the right tool.
Disclaimer and Why Custody Data Changes Fast
Brevard County inmate data shifts hour by hour. Bonds get posted at all hours. Charges shift after first appearance. Releases process throughout the day. A name that hits at 9 a.m. may drop off the roster by 5 p.m. BCSO publishes the roster as a courtesy and warns it should not replace a formal F.S. 119 public records request.
An arrest is not a conviction. Florida law treats every person as innocent until proven guilty in court. The roster shows charges, not adjudications. Final case outcomes live in the Clerk's court file.

For the full statute, see F.S. 119.071. Florida public records law is broad, but exemptions apply to certain personal data, active investigation files, and protected witness records. For court detail tied to a booking, cross-check the Clerk of Court. For criminal record context, see criminal records or the FAQ.
Note: Roster data is informational only and should not be used for any FCRA-regulated purpose.
